Post Office Ltd has confirmed that Vauxhall Street Post Office will be saved from closure, whilst over 150 others will be shut across London.

The campaign to save the Post Office was a huge success involving hundreds of local residents, groups such as the Kennington Association and local councillors. Oval Councillor Rob Banks, joined Lib Dem Parliamentary Spokesperson Caroline Pidgeon with residents and Simon Hughes MP handing in around 4000 signatures against Post Office closures in Lambeth and Southwark in April.

"I am very pleased that Vauxhall Street has been saved from closure. However, the Labour Government is still determined to save money by closing local Post Offices and many others are closing throughout Lambeth including Acre Lane and in Clapham" warned Caroline Pidgeon.

Liberal Democrats will continue to fight to ensure local community services such as Post Offices remain at the heart of the community.
