Lib Dems want to see a fair deal for our Armed Forces
Nick Clegg has launched a campaign to give our Armed Forces fair pay, after shocking figures revealed that 13,000 personnel receive under £17,000 a year in basic pay, declaring that it it time to stop short-changing our troops.
Nick has pledged that if elected, Liberal Democrats would ensure that no service personnel would receive less basic pay than someone starting out in the Police or fire brigade, and would put service personnel and their welfare at the heart of defence policy.
Vauxhall Liberal Democrat Parliamentary Campaigner Caroline Pigeon said "Our troops are fighting in treacherous conditions and yet Labour are leaving many servicemen and women and their families close to the poverty line. We need to take action now to ensure that they get the deal that they deserve."
