Lambeth Labour face calls to pay back absentee councillor's £15,000 allowance
Absentee Princes Ward Labour Councillor Sam Townend has finally resigned his seat on Lambeth Council after admitting to living in Bristol where he wants to be elected to Parliament. He was reported as having claimed £15,000 in allowances for attending just two council meetings.
And he is facing fresh calls from the Lambeth Liberal Democrats to repay the allowance.

Lambeth Lib Dem Group Leader Cllr Ashley Lumsden said: "He could not be a Lambeth Councillor while living in Bristol. His resignation means we can get someone who will focus on the local area. But we believe Mr Townend should pay back £15,000 to cover the time he was living in and focusing in on Bristol".
